Featured Band or Artist

Chase and Amanda

THE MINISTRY:
Praise and worship group from Columbus, GA.

INTERVIEW WITH THE BAND:
CP: What type of band are you? A: Mainly praise and worship, but we do a lot of cover songs as well.

CP: Tell us a brief history of Chase & Amanda. A: We met in Oct. 2000 at a block party in downtown Columbus. We were both playing with different groups. We started hanging out and having jam sessions with friends and eventually started dating. We got asked to play at RiverTown Church’s grand opening in March 2001 and we’ve been leading worship there ever since.

CP: Who are your musical influences? A: Well, for me I’m a huge fan of Christy Nockels and Nichole Nordeman and they have had an enormous influence on me as a singer and as a Christian. As for our p&w influences I would have to say Watermark, Hillsong United, Chris Tomlin, Charlie Hall (awesome worship leader!), Shane & Shane.

Chase’s response: Shane Barnard & Shane Everett, Caedmon's Call, Dave Matthews, John Mayer, and Counting Crows

CP: What inspires you guys to do what you do? A: Seeing people connecting with their Creator on a personal level.

CP: Where was your most memorable concert? A: Concert attended: Robert Randolph and the Family Band at The Tabernacle. Concert we played: Fairview Baptist in Columbus where we got the privilege to open up for independent artist Justin McRoberts.

CP: What are some pet peeves? A: Amanda: People who drive under the speed limit in the left lane, my incredibly filtered email at work

Chase: Things that aren't in order...like the CDs at Target, that's when I step in and organize them for fun while Amanda shops.

CP: Favorite scripture and why? A: Amanda: "Do not worry about tomorrow for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough problems of it's own" Matthew 6:34.

It reminds me that God is going to take care of me no matter what and I shouldn’t dwell on things that I don't have. (house, car, clothes, etc..)

Chase: Psalm 96:1-4: 1 Sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth. 2 Sing to the LORD, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day. 3 Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples. 4 For great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods.

Because it's a reminder to continually sing and write music for the Lord, and I need that. I was actually inspired to put music to these verses and the song will be on our debut EP if we ever finish it. :)
